Sue Williamson(Sue Williamson)

Susan Mary Williamson was born in 1941 in Lichfield, Staffordshire – England and moved to South Africa in 1948. She is a printmaker of socio-political works. Some of her well known works include “The Last Supper”, a mixed media installation comprised of fragments of demolished buildings and abandoned possessions from District Six, Cape Town and “A Few South Africans”, a portfolio of 17 photo-silkscreens depicting South African women involved in the struggle for liberation, to name a few. Sue studies at the Art Students League during 1966 – 1969 in New York under Thomas Fogarty, Seong Moy and John Groth; during 1971 – 1973 at the Ruth Prowse Art Centre under Erik Laubscher and during 1982/83 at the Michaelis School of Fine Art under Jules van de Vijver.
