As the second of the Sunday afternoon concert series, Gauteng Opera presents Music from the Movies. The programme consists of the well-known and hum-along music we got to know by going to the movies – recent movies and movies from yester-year. Chief Executive Officer, Arnold Cloete together with his creative team Artistic Director, Phenye Modiane and Coach, Paul Ferreira created a programme that celebrates the wonderful music that were written for and sometimes just used in the “flicks” and musical numbers such as Gabriella’s Song from As it is in Heaven, Remember from Troy, Let the river run from Working Girl and Papa, can you hear me from Yentl will be heard, not forgetting some of the golden oldies, such as Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, As time goes by from Casablanca, Born Free from Born Free and Can’t help falling in love from Blue Hawaii.

Performing this afternoon will be the talented Gauteng Opera artists, Khayakazi Madlala (soprano), Yolanda Nyembezi (mezzo-soprano), Phenye Modiane (tenor), Lindo Maso (tenor), Kanyiso Kula (tenor), Chuma Sijeqa (baritone), Solly Motaung (baritone) and the ensemble of Gauteng Opera Academy. They will be accompanied on piano by Paul Ferreira.
