Gauteng Opera announces the continuation of the work

May 2nd 2018
Gauteng Opera - Tin Town Theatre

It is with great joy that Gauteng Opera announces the continuation of the work that the company does. This comes in the wake of recent threat of closure due to financial difficulties which required us to either make a concerted effort to raise sufficient funds to ensure the continuation of our operations, or to call it a day.

Gauteng Opera wishes to thank Classic 1027 for their initiative to come on board and support Gauteng Opera with their drive, “Save Gauteng Opera”. Gauteng Opera also wishes to thank the public and corporate entities who so kindly and generously donated toward the cause.

We are indeed saved, but not safe, and any further support will be welcomed and appreciated.  The funds raised will ensure that the students in the Academy can continue with their studies and we can also support the Interns in the company for the time being.  Unfortunately, Gauteng Opera has taken a hard knock and drastic measures have been taken to lower the monthly overheads.  Tessa and La-la, mother-and-daughter team of La Trinita will share in the celebration with an exciting menu for the evening. Songs during this performance will include hits such as Ti amerò, Torna a Surriento, Adagio, Canto della terra and La luna che non c’e, to name a few.

La Trinita has a vast a la carte menu available and delectable wines on sale. For the past twenty years, La Trinita has served top quality Italian food, merging the specialities of three cities, Bologna, Napoli and Perugia, at its finest. With a simple formula of QUALITY, they offer an unrivaled menu of delectable dishes that reflect Italy’s most traditional elements of food and culinary style. La Trinita has two years ago been a finalist for the BASA Awards for the work they did with Gauteng Opera. Another accolade they are very proud of is that La Trinita has been chosen as one of 101 best places to eat in the world.

Owners Tessa and La-la donate all the profits generated from this evening to Gauteng Opera for further development of the artists. Performing on the night will be the talented Gauteng Opera artists, Khayakazi Madlala (soprano), Yolanda Nyembezi (mezzo-soprano), Phenye Modiane (tenor), Kagiso Boroko (tenor), Chuma Sijeqa (baritone) and Solly Motaung (baritone). They will be accompanied on piano by Paul Ferreira.
